Located near Vero Beach’s 37th Street medical corridor, the clinic gives residents another local option for discussing varicose veins, swelling, leg heaviness, skin changes, and other concerns that may be related to vein disease. The location will serve patients from Vero Beach and nearby mainland and barrier-island communities while connecting them with UVVC’s broader network of Florida physicians and care teams.

Appointments are now being scheduled for the new clinic. Patients can request a vein screening in Vero Beach or call (800) 952-5954 to speak with the care team.

A Local Option for Indian River County

Vero Beach may be known for its relaxed coastal setting, but daily life still keeps residents moving. A normal week may involve hours spent standing at work, traveling between central Vero Beach and beachside neighborhoods, taking care of family, or staying active outdoors. When the legs begin aching, swelling, cramping, or feeling unusually heavy, those familiar routines can become more difficult.

Travel can create another obstacle when care requires multiple visits for evaluation, treatment, and follow-up. Establishing a clinic within Vero Beach’s medical district gives patients a nearby place to discuss their concerns without beginning that process outside the community.

Located near other medical offices and major routes through central Vero Beach, the clinic is accessible to patients traveling from Sebastian, Fellsmere, Indian River Shores, and surrounding communities.

Dr. James Estes Brings Decades of Vascular Experience to Vero Beach

The new clinic will be led by Dr. James Estes, a board-certified vascular surgeon with more than 30 years of experience treating arterial and venous disease.

Throughout his career, Dr. Estes has cared for patients with a wide range of circulation concerns and held clinical and leadership roles at several major medical institutions. His experience includes vascular and endovascular surgery, advanced vascular imaging, peripheral artery disease, limb preservation, and complex venous disease.

Dr. Estes believes effective care begins with listening. Patients may arrive with visible varicose veins, recurring swelling, or discomfort they have been managing for years without knowing what is causing it. He takes time to understand what the patient has noticed, how the concern affects everyday life, and what the patient hopes to gain from care.

When additional testing is appropriate, diagnostic ultrasound imaging can help identify veins that are not circulating blood properly. Dr. Estes considers those findings alongside the patient’s symptoms, medical history, vein anatomy, and overall vascular health before recommending a next step.

Vein Disease Can Look and Feel Different for Every Patient

Varicose veins are one of the most recognizable signs of vein disease, but not every condition begins with a prominent vein. The Vero Beach clinic will evaluate and treat several vein conditions:

Vein conditionWhat it may involve
ŻylakiEnlarged, twisted, or bulging veins that may occur alongside aching, throbbing, swelling, heaviness, or fatigue
PajączkiSmall red, blue, or purple veins near the skin’s surface that may create web-like patterns and cause burning or itching for some patients
Reticular veinsBlue or green veins that are larger than spider veins but smaller than varicose veins and may contribute to visible changes or discomfort
Przewlekła niewydolność żylnaA condition in which weakened or damaged vein valves make it difficult for blood to circulate efficiently out of the legs
Refluks żylnyBackward blood flow that occurs when valves inside the veins do not close or function properly

For some patients, the first concern is a visible change, such as a raised vein or discoloration around the ankles. Others notice swelling, aching, heaviness, fatigue, burning, itching, leg cramps, or restlessness. Symptoms may become more noticeable after long periods of sitting or standing and can change throughout the day.

These concerns may gradually influence everyday choices. Someone may shorten a walk, take more breaks while completing errands, or become less comfortable with the appearance of their legs. A vein screening provides an opportunity to discuss those changes and determine whether further evaluation may be appropriate.

A Screening Is the Beginning of the Conversation

Visiting a vein clinic does not automatically mean a patient has vein disease or needs a procedure. The screening process begins with a conversation about the patient’s symptoms, when they occur, and how they affect work, sleep, mobility, and other parts of daily life.

If further evaluation is needed, ultrasound imaging may be used to examine blood flow and identify affected veins beneath the skin. The results can help the physician determine whether monitoring, conservative care, minimally invasive treatment, or no treatment is appropriate.

This individualized process is especially important because similar symptoms can have different causes. Recommendations are based on the complete clinical picture rather than one visible vein or a single symptom.

Minimally Invasive Vein Treatments Available in Vero Beach

When a procedure is recommended, the treatment plan is matched to the location, size, and function of the affected veins. The Vero Beach clinic will offer several minimally invasive vein procedures:

  • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA): Uses controlled heat to close a vein that is not circulating blood properly, allowing blood to naturally reroute through healthier veins nearby.
  • VenaSeal™: Uses a medical adhesive to close an affected vein without heat. Eligibility depends on the patient’s evaluation and vein anatomy.
  • Varithena®: An injectable foam treatment used to close certain affected veins, including some varicose veins.
  • Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy: Uses ultrasound imaging to guide an injectable medical solution into a targeted vein, causing it to close while blood reroutes through healthier veins.
  • Microphlebectomy: Removes larger, visible varicose veins through very small openings in the skin and may help address related discomfort and bulging veins.

A patient may need one procedure, a combination of treatments, further evaluation, or no procedure at all. Dr. Estes will base his recommendation on the veins involved, the patient’s symptoms, ultrasound findings, medical history, and individual needs.

Strengthening UVVC’s Presence Along Florida’s East Coast

The Vero Beach opening strengthens UVVC’s presence along Florida’s Atlantic coast and adds another clinic to its network serving the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach area.

For local patients, that growth means more than adding another clinic to the map. It provides a Vero Beach option for beginning care, completing recommended treatment, and returning for follow-up appointments while connecting the community with UVVC’s broader network of board-certified physicians and vein care teams.

With the opening of this location, UVVC now operates five clinics across the region and 17 locations throughout Florida.
