JOSEPH PESSIN, M.D.

Board-Certified General Surgeon & Vein Specialist

Dr. Joshua Pessin is a board-certified general surgeon and vein specialist with more than 15 years of experience providing general, vascular, and vein care. Throughout his career, he has treated arterial and venous disease in both hospital and outpatient settings, bringing a broad surgical background to the treatment of varicose vein disease. His clinical focus includes therapeutic and cosmetic vein procedures designed to address symptoms, visible veins, and the ways vein disease can affect a patient’s quality of life.

Dr. Pessin earned his medical degree from Rush University in Chicago after completing his Bachelor of Science at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. He then completed a five-year general surgery residency at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio, where he received comprehensive training in surgical care.

Following his residency, Dr. Pessin joined Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin, where he spent nearly 15 years practicing general and vascular surgery and caring for patients through the hospital’s vein clinic. During his time there, he served as Director of the Ascension All Saints Vein and Vascular Clinic, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, and Chairman of the Robotics Steering Committee. He was also appointed to the Ascension All Saints Foundation Board of Directors.

Since 2023, Dr. Pessin has focused on the evaluation and management of arterial and venous disease in an outpatient clinical setting. His vein treatment experience includes radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal™, Varithena®, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, and visual sclerotherapy. His background also includes carotid and peripheral vascular procedures, giving him experience across a wide range of vascular conditions and treatment needs.

In addition to his work in vein and vascular care, Dr. Pessin has extensive experience in robotic assisted minimally invasive surgery, including complex hernia repair, colectomy, and emergency surgery when appropriate. He has performed nearly 750 robotic procedures and was recognized as a Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation in 2022. He was also named a 2023 Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Milwaukee.

Dr. Pessin’s background in traditional vascular surgery, minimally invasive vein procedures, and robotic surgery reflects his commitment to precise, individualized care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys music, outdoor sporting activities, and sailing.
