ROBERT STEPPACHER, M.D.
Dr. Robert Steppacher is a board-certified vascular surgeon and endovascular specialist with extensive experience treating complex arterial and venous conditions. He specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures designed to improve circulation, prevent complications, and enhance patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Steppacher earned his medical degree from MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, followed by advanced fellowship training in vascular surgery at the University of Massachusetts.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Steppacher has held both clinical and academic roles at leading institutions, including the University of Chicago and the University of Massachusetts. He has served as an attending vascular surgeon, Assistant Professor of Surgery, and Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer, where he helped lead initiatives focused on surgical quality, patient safety, and clinical workflow optimization. His work has included developing vascular quality programs, improving perioperative care systems, and advancing the use of technology in patient management.
Dr. Steppacher has a strong clinical interest in both arterial and venous disease, including peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysms, and chronic venous conditions. He has also contributed extensively to vascular surgery research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations focused on outcomes, endovascular innovation, and quality improvement.
Known for his thoughtful, analytical approach, Dr. Steppacher emphasizes clear communication and patient education as key components of successful care. He believes that individualized treatment planning and a collaborative approach help patients feel confident in their care and achieve the best possible outcomes.
